We’re fairly sure that as soon as concepts for Christmas campaigns start coming together, there’s a mad dash to find a festive tune that hasn’t been done to death in seasonal spots.

And we’re equally sure that Tonight, Tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins isn’t usually a front-runner.

However, for Bear Meets Eagle On Fire and +61’s latest chapter of Telstra’s Together is for Christmas campaign, the track couldn’t be more perfect, as the film follows a young goth girl who finds a spooky pal for the holidays.

Directed by Steve Rogers through Revolver, in his first-ever animated project, with visuals created in partnership with animation company Mathematic, this gorgeously crafted tale has a rare distinction among this year’s spots – we actually want a longer cut!
