Taking EE's super cool, retro-soundtracked campaign from Publicis Groupe and giving it a Christmas twist (the brand's first, nonetheless) isn't the easiest of propositions, but with Ride on Time by Black Box providing the tunes, Hosting & Guesting manages it.

Following a mum and two kids as they attempt the dreaded festive double - two houses in one day - the film not only showcases the merry mania of a seasonal get-together, but also manages to connect it to the EE-powered devices that propagate it.

With Magna Studios' Phoebe Arnstein balancing both the cheery energy of the party and the sweet throughline of a cousin's thoughtful gift, this relatable and charming slice of Xmas life hits its mark.

“At Christmas, connection matters more than ever, and EE is the network families can rely on," comments Ben Mooge, Chief Creative Officer, Publicis Groupe UK. "Reflecting the reality of families juggling multiple Christmases in one day, we wanted the brand recognition we’ve built through our work this year to come through clearly in our first Christmas spot – making sure it feels unmistakably EE.

"It’s a fully integrated campaign built around the idea of hosting and guesting, and a major moment in our journey with the brand.”

“Christmas is a busy time with multiple phases in the lead up to the big day," adds Rebecca Marshall, Client President of OpenConnect at WPP Media. "Our meticulous planning was rooted in understanding and tapping into real-life behaviours to show EE's seamless connection at the heart of every festive journey, whether hosting or guesting.”

Beyond the TV spot, the campaign spans cinema, radio, social, OOH and DOOH executions showcasing dual “hosting and guesting” moments, alongside a Samsung UK partnership fronted by Andi Oliver that rewards EE customers with festive tech prizes, all strategically timed around key travel and shopping periods.
