Many spots sent to shots Towers are labelled as ‘anthems’ for their brands, but few can claim to have a track that truly backs up the lofty statement.

Thankfully, in MIRIMAR’s funny new film for men’s deodorant brand Mando, the emotive country tune that soundtracks its anti-hero is a fist-pumping ode to those who take the easy way out.

Directed by DROOL ProductionsJasper Cable-Alexander, the spot – gloriously shot on film – lands its comedic beats, with the deliberately clichéd characterisation complemented by pitch-perfect art direction and attention to detail.

Mando – If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth Mando-ing.

“I feel like I’ve seen a lifetime’s worth of armpits over these past few months making this film come alive, but honestly, it was utterly worth it," comments Cable-Alexander.

"From the very beginning, the Miramar team were focused on creativity above all else, and that translated to everyone involved. It felt like we were all stepping into this creative world together, all keen to make something fun, memorable, and go on this slightly insane journey as one team.

"What I loved was that we got to treat this like a short film rather than a commercial – shooting on film, building characters, and creating this whole little world that just got wackier and more fun over time.

"I also really wanted the world to feel layered, so that when you look past the main action, there are all these small details and props that tell you more about the character. Especially inside the caravan, we filled it with little clues about the random objects, the things he’s collected, and the choices he’s made – his protein powder, his strange chihuahua obsession, all these odd bits and pieces that subtly bring his character to life.

"If nothing else, this film has made sure I’ll always keep my armpits clean and smelling nice – because I’ve seen what happens when you don’t.”
