It would be hard to find someone who hasn't looked at the sky and mentally played around with the shape of clouds, but few would be able to take such whimsy and use it to anchor a touching tale.

In her lovely short, A Strange Shape, filmmaker Joana Bosch explores absence through the eyes of a younger brother, who imagines his sibling chasing clouds, using shifting skies as a metaphor for our need to find meaning in chaos.

Shot artfully and with a tight timeframe that doesn't allow for over-indugence, Bosch's film cuts through as a charming and surprisingily rich curio.
