Known for his work with Radiohead, The Killers, Father John Misty and more, animator Chris Hopewell brings his distinctive storytelling to this emotive and beautifully crafted stop-motion promo, produced by Black Dog Films for American rock band Goose.
The titular track from the band’s upcoming album, Everything Must Go, captures the moving story of a lonely rodent who escapes from his cage to discover the world outside is nothing but a barren, toxic wasteland. Finding some buried seeds, he makes the ultimate self-sacrifice; choosing to plant them rather than eat them and help nature regenerate.
The film was made using traditional techniques over three weeks in Bristol, UK, with 90% of all the sets and scenery being fashioned from repurposed and recycled materials. All the trash and plastic waste used to build the sets was gathered in a beach clean near Bristol, then recycled after filming.
