The Movement Focus
This extended Focus looks at all that moves in the moving image. From performance and cinematography to dance, sport and rhythm, shots explores how movement shapes feeling and storytelling, and why physicality continues to inspire directors, DPs and artists across the industry.
What we're covering
We want perspectives on the role of movement as a storytelling language. That includes ideas around performance, choreography, camera movement, rhythm in the edit and the ways CGI or motion design can mimic or enhance physical expression.
What to pitch
- Talent profiles on directors, DPs, choreographers or movement-led creatives who have a clear approach to physical storytelling.
- Opinion pieces on how motion drives emotion and why movement changes the way audiences feel or interpret a scene.
- First-person reflections on working with dancers, athletes or performers whose bodies shape the narrative.
- Perspectives on camera choreography and the relationship between performer and lens.
- Essays on rhythm in the edit and how cutting can feel like choreography.
- Thoughts on how CGI, animation or motion design can extend or reinterpret physical movement.
- Personal takes on how physical practice, gesture or tempo influence someone’s creative process or sense of intuition.
