The Reality Focus
In a post truth, deep fake world we spend much of autumn thinking about what feels real. This Focus looks at how filmmakers and creatives construct, distort or remix reality, from docu style authenticity to visual trickery, CG realism and AI. It also explores how truth is handled in casting, performance and the emotional stories advertising aims to tell.
What we're covering
We want perspectives on authenticity, identity and truthfulness in modern storytelling. That includes how creatives use real people, actors or digital performers, and how emotional honesty is maintained or challenged in an age of synthetic imagery and lack of trust.
What to pitch
- Talent profiles on creatives who explore reality, documentary or emotional authenticity in their work.
- Opinion pieces on how truth is handled in advertising and how audiences respond to different forms of constructed reality.
- First-person essays on working with real people or vulnerable stories and how those experiences shaped the creative process.
- Perspectives on the cultural tension between authenticity and artifice.
- Thoughts on casting and performance and how people decide what level of realism suits a story or brand world.
- Reflections on whether digital attempts at human emotion can ever feel as real as lived experience.
