Created in collaboration with the Lucky Generals, The Whole Picture campaign revisits the legendary spot 40 years after it was aired, with original director Paul Weiland and members of the original crew returning to the project.

Zooming in on the first iteration, one can see a young Kathy Burke watching the action from a doorway.

Here she returns to reinforce the relevance of the campaign's message that context is all. In an era of fragmented unreliable news sources and mendacious 'truths', trusted, balanced journalism is more important than ever.

Filmed on the same street in Elephant & Castle in London, this new work connects past and present, reaffirming the truth – although the world has changed, the Guardian’s role has not.

Katharine Viner, editor-in-chief, the Guardian, says: “The Guardian's iconic 'Points of View' TV advert set out the risks of misunderstanding when judging something from a narrow perspective. In an age of polarisation, that issue has only become more relevant."
