With a sassy script – “Friday called, it’s bored of wine’” – and punchy visuals with a Latino kick, W+K London’s Stir Up campaign for Kahlúa positions the drink as a playful treat that isn’t just for special occasions.
Leaning into the brand’s Mexican heritage, the four spots were directed by Mexican director Rodrigo Valdez, through Birth London, with two featuring actor/producer Salma Hayek, who just so happens to hail from the birthplace of Kahlúa, Veracruz.
Hilariously spoofing the world of over-the-top telenovelas, the ads Gasp and Couch, feature Hayek hamming it up, while Staredown and Milk After Dark follow nonsensical tales of two women styling it out at Kahlua O'Clock and a domestic drama centring around a milky mystery.
