Mockumentaries succeed when reality and fiction are so closely entwined that it’s hard to tell them apart.
Spinal Tap are OTT, but no more so than real ’70s rockers. The Lonely Island are crude, but the music slaps. David Brent’s a buffoon... though hardly unique in middle management.
Such is the joy of Scholz & Friends' subtly surreal new film for Mainz-based bag manufacturer GOT BAG; a brand so comfortable in its products' appeal that they eschew the norm of celebrity or sportsperson affiliation and instead head straight for the GOAT: a goat.
The four-minute mockumentary, directed by Peter Haueis, follows Sherif - a genuine shepherd from Himarë in Albania - as he parades his magnificent herd through town sporting their rather fetching neck-bags.
Shot expertly, with piles of 'real-life' moments that are just delicately flavoured with the obviously absurd concept, this bold and hugely entertaining slice of content is designed to leave as many smiles as it does questions; now we keep wondering about goats without bags...
