Belgian animal protection association GAIA has unveiled this affecting and cinematic AI film, developed by ALTMANN+PARTNERS, which shines a light on the heartbreaking reality of the dairy industry for cows and their calves.
Titled Number 3347 and directed by Sebastian Strasser through Henry, the three-minute film follows the emotional journey of a cow searching for her calf, brought to life using AI with the help of VFX and SFX specialists.
The story centres around the often-unknown truth that mother cows are separated from their babies at birth to increase their milk production, and, in 2025, 333,191 calves were raised and then slaughtered in Belgium – a direct consequence of the operation of the dairy industry.
