Is there a new series of Stranger Things coming out? We hadn't noticed...
Continuing the theme of every brand either partnering with the Netflix show or The Grinch this month, Deutsche Telekom's promotion for its MagentaTV service sees stars Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, and Caleb McLaughlin creating a bespoke VHS megamix machine to train them up for battle.
What marks adam&eveDDB London and Berlin's campaign above others of it ilk, though, is its authenticity to the universe - the Hawkins location perfectly recreated by Nick Ball's direction through Anorak x MJZ, production design from Sean Brennan, the show’s original set designer, and photography from Lachlan Milne, the cinematographer for key episodes of Seasons 3 and 4.
"Being entrusted with the Stranger Things world for this Telekom campaign, as the series approaches its epic finale, is a profound honour," explains Paul Knott, Creative Director, adam&eveDDB London. "The show has been a cultural touchstone, and we are keenly aware of the weight and excitement surrounding its conclusion.
“Our goal was to craft a campaign that captivates audiences, while respectfully celebrating the incredible legacy the Duffer Brothers created. With the help of our amazing clients and production teams, we hope we have done them proud."
