In collaboration with agency TBWA, Turkish supermarket chain CarrefourSA executed this striking and thought-provoking initiative in the small fishing town of Ocaklar, Balıkesir Erdek.
The campaign saw the location enveloped in vast, spiderweb-like 'ghost nets' (fishing nets that have been discarded in the ocean), creating an eery and unsettling scene of a dystopian town abandoned by its inhabitants – a stark warning about Ocaklar’s future if the fishing industry dies.
With the message "If fishing dies, Ocaklar dies!", the Ghost Town project aims to protect coastal towns that rely on small-scale coastal fishing for their livelihood and raise awareness about the sustainability of marine ecosystems.
