Steeped in ritual, rhythm and mysticism, these five interconnected music videos for Anitta were directed by Manuel Nogueira and shot entirely in Vila Mogol, a village of twenty-five people in the mountains of Minas Gerais, inside the Ibiti rewilding forest project.
While each of the five films has a distinct flavour, all are connected by stunning production design from Jean Labanca and gorgeous costumes inspired by the environment and native flora.
Writing about the endeavour, the director celebrated the many collaborators: “I directed the films. [Creative Director] Nídia Aranha built the conceptual universe they live inside – the spiritual grammar, the chapters, the symbols. My job was to find what that should look like, moment by moment.”
“Juliano Lopes was our DP. What Juliano does is read a place. Not technically, though he does that too. He reads what a place is trying to say and then finds the light that says it with more intention and beauty, already imagining the colour correction.”
"This time, everything helped. The place, the people, the spiritual weight of the material. It's hard to define what was the main generator of everything. To author is to give life to something. This time, given the complexity of it all, I think we all did.”
