Created for Young Capital by Amsterdam-based agency ACE, the initiative features a bonkers spot, Boost Your Boomer, stylishly directed by HAMLET’s Angelo Cerisara, which promotes the brand’s values along with a magical energy drink.
The spots’ many excellent details, fantastical design and deadpan, body-horror comedy, offset an arguably mildly ageist scenario that sees doddery oldsters invigorated enough to keep up with their Gen Z colleagues by consuming a can of Booomer. While the limited-edition beverage is real enough, its active ingredient – a gloopy ‘youth essense’ extracted from the young’un’s veins – is not.
The director commented: “Finding the right tone of voice for an idea like this means finding the sweet spot between fashion, awkwardness, horror and coolness. Those are not often vibes that coexist in the same film. So it made sense to go for a Y2K 'Cronenbergian' fashion techno musical. Big shoutout to the ACE creatives for letting me dive into something so unconventional and exciting. I’ve loved every second of it!”
