Virgin sends in the clouds
This lovely spot from the airline cleverly conflates the spirit of travel, generosity and the view from a plane, via Maya Angelou’s advice to “be a rainbow in somebody’s cloud.”

One of the pleasures of flying is the joy of making like a bird and rising through and above the clouds.
This charming campaign created by Lucky Generals for Virgin Atlantic references the symbolism of these meteorological wonders while also championing the joy of finding far flung places where you can open your mind to – and connect with – other cultures and customs.
Shot by Nikolai Fuglsig, through MJZ, the hero film features rare archival audio of the poet and activist Maya Angelou talking about “being a rainbow in the clouds”. The words are backed by American artist Daemon’s classy track Fired Up, featuring Pastor TL Barrett’s Nobody Knows.
Angelou's full quote is: “I've had so many rainbows in my clouds. I had a lot of clouds. So I don't ever feel I have no help. I've had rainbows in my clouds. And the thing to do, it seems to me, is to prepare yourself. So that you can be a rainbow in somebody else's cloud.
“Somebody who may not look like you. Who may not call God the same name you call God, if they call god at all. May not eat the same dishes prepared the way you do. May not dance your dances or speak your language.
“But be a blessing to somebody. That's what I think.”
