The General is taking on Akuma
The General’s new Street Fighter, campaign was created by agency BBDO Chicago and stars Joe ‘Roman Reigns’ Anoa’i.
The campaign partners with the Street Fighter movie, and features Joe ‘Roman Reigns’ Anoa’i as Street Fighter character Akuma.
The campaign marks the fourth wave of creative under The General's The Break platform, which is built around giving drivers a break when they need it most.
The campaign takes the frustration of being denied or dropped by an insurer and turns it into a literal fight through the lens of Street Fighter. The work is grounded in real consumer insight from drivers who have felt judged as careless or undeserving from other insurers and are looking for an insurer that sees them. The work also builds on The General's existing connection to WWE, where the brand serves as WWE's premier insurance sponsor.

“Dealing with your insurer shouldn't feel like getting hit with a Hadoken. The General doesn’t do combos or cheap shots, they just show up for you. Combining the worlds of Street Fighter and The General was too irresistible to pass up.” said Josh Gross, Chief Creative Officer at BBDO Chicago.
“At The General, giving people a break isn’t just something we say. It’s the lens we use to think about how we can make insurance easier for our customers,” said Chauncey Citchens, Director of Marketing at The General Insurance. “Partnering with Street Fighter gives us a fun, culturally relevant way to bring that story to life. In a world built around epic battles, we can show drivers that getting the service and rates they deserve shouldn’t have to feel like one.”
