Steven Norel signs with Armoury London
Armoury welcomes the Paris-based director to its roster for UK representation.
Armoury welcome Paris-based director Steven Norel to its roster.
A self-taught filmmaker, Norel has developed a distinctive visual language rooted in the pop culture of his childhood. Drawing inspiration from the bold imagery, heightened worlds and playful energy of the 1990s and early 2000s, he reinterprets these influences through a fresh, contemporary lens. His work is defined by vivid colour palettes, precise art direction and an instinctive eye for the imperfect or unexpected. Moving fluidly between reality and fantasy, Steven finds beauty and character in the everyday, transforming familiar environments, objects and moments into images that feel cinematic, surreal and full of personality.
There is often a playful tension at the heart of his films, where the polished meets the unconventional and the seemingly ugly becomes strangely beautiful. Steven began developing his craft alongside acclaimed French photographer Fifou, an experience that sharpened his appetite for visual storytelling and art direction. Since then, he has continued to build a singular creative universe: bold, energetic and meticulously composed, while always leaving room for humour, humanity and surprise.
With his unmistakable aesthetic and ability to elevate the ordinary, Norel brings an exciting new voice to Armoury’s roster.
Managing Director, Matt Hichens said: “Steven has a very special and beautifully individual directing style and approach that immediately grabbed me and then also held my attention. A rare and amazing talent. His work has an unforced, effortlessly cool look and feel alongside beautifully rich visual storytelling. His work with Adidas Ozweego and his latest promo CAMILLE, highlight brilliantly his range and what an exceptional talent he is. We’re really excited to have him join us at Armoury.”
Norel adds: "The Armoury London team are a bunch of fun, creative, like minded peeps. I love their spirit and approach to the industry. Exactly the kind of people worth making things with."
