Merman US signs Anton Corbijn

Legendary filmmaker is represented by the global production company for commercial work and branded entertainment.
The world-renowned filmmaker and photographer Anton Corbijn has joined Merman US for representation in the states.
Already on the roster of Merman in the UK, Corbijn is now represented globally by the commercial and branded entertainment company. Widely acclaimed as a feature film director and photographer, Corbijn’s commercial career took off in 2015 after directing the cinematic Miss Dior campaign known as Runaway Bride, which featured Natalie Portman impulsively bailing on her own wedding ceremony. Since then Corbijn has directed high-profile commercial campaigns for major global brands including Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Chanel, Levi's, G-Star, Patek Philippe, St Laurent and Agent Provocateur.
“I have always admired Anton’s legendary and iconic visual style,” said Merman Global Managing Partner, Ellen Jacobson-Clarke. “He is a pioneer in the genre of music in both photography and film, defining an entire culture. His narrative work in film and his commercials continue to make their mark. We are thrilled to have him join our team.”
Corbijn is also widely known for his collaborations with musicians. In 1983 he was one of the first stills photographers to direct music videos. He has since made almost 100 music videos for artists such as U2, Depeche Mode, Nirvana, Metallica, Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, Arcade Fire, Coldplay and The Killers. He directed the acclaimed feature film Control, a love story about the life, and death, of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis.
His work was recently celebrated in a major retrospective this year at Fotografiska Berlin that looked back on over five decades of work spanning photography, music video and film. The exhibition showcased Corbijn’s iconic portraits of musicians, directors and artists, and his signature black-and-white grainy aesthetic, which became a defining visual language in his work.
Corbijn’s additional feature film credits include The American with George Clooney, A Most Wanted Man, based on the novel by John Le Carreì and starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, and LIFE, a feature with Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan that premiered at the 2015 Berlinale. Corbijn’s A Talent for Murder, a thriller starring Helen Mirren as the celebrated writer Patricia Highsmith, will be released theatrically nationwide in November.
