Station Film signs comedy director Kristin Dehnert
Dehnert is already working on her first campaign with Station for RPA and ampm.
Station Film welcomes comedy director Kristin Dehnert to its roster for commercial representation.
Known for her performance-driven work with celebrities and athletes, Dehnert has helmed campaigns for Uber, Liberty Mutual, ESPN, Credit Karma, Frito-Lay, Wells Fargo, and more.
Among her most talked-about recent work is a campaign for Bic featuring Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, and Martha Stewart. The spot’s comedy hinges on the distinct personalities of the trio, Nelson is chill, Snoop is emphatic, and Stewart is playfully skeptical, delivering a performance-driven piece full of charm.
Another standout is Viasat’s Piggybackers, a spot that leans into awkward comedy as a couple overextends their welcome to “borrow” internet from diners and neighbours. The spot’s success lies in the actors’ subtle performances and pitch-perfect comedic timing.
“I’d seen Kristin’s work before we started talking with her and was a fan of her comedic sensibility, great casting, and performance,” said Michelle Towse, Partner/Executive Producer at Station Film. “She brings formidable experience, talent, and a ‘can-do’ vibe. We’re happy to have her on our team!”
Caroline Gibney, Founding Partner of Station Film, added: “Kristin is a self-starter with a deep love for filmmaking. She worked her way up in Chicago’s studio film scene before moving to Los Angeles to write and direct. Her energy is infectious, and her passion for the craft makes her a perfect fit at Station.”
“Station’s reputation is stellar,” said Dehnert. “Everyone is genuine, talented, respected, and fun. It’s always about forming creative partnerships, and Station checked all the boxes and then some.”
Dehnert first gained national attention when her comedic Doritos spot Check Out Girl aired during the Super Bowl as part of the brand’s Crash the Super Bowl contest. Before that, she earned acclaim with the BAFTA Award-winning short film Underground. Inspired by comedy icons like Carol Burnett, Gilda Radner, and Mary Tyler Moore, Dehnert’s work often puts women at the comedic forefront.
“I like breaking stale comedic norms,” she said. “Women are hilarious, and I often push to flip the script so they’re the ones driving the laughs.”
She thrives under pressure, particularly in high-stakes shoots involving A-list talent. In addition to Willie, Snoop, and Martha, she’s directed Mindy Kaling, Busy Philipps, Sophia Bush, and Zoe Kazan, as well as top athletes and commentators like Marcus Spears, Candace Parker, and Alyssa Naeher.
“I’m like a Golden Retriever,” Dehnert joked. “I’m laid back, and I create a safe space for talent to explore. A stress-free set builds trust, which is the key to comedy. Being in the zone with actors, that’s my sweet spot.”
