Washington Square Films signs director Jihye
The New York-based filmmaker brings an intimate, human-centred approach to work for brands including Ford, HBO, McDonald’s and Instagram.
New York-based commercial and film production company Washington Square Films has signed director Jihye for commercial representation in the US market.
With a dynamic background as both a producer and director, Jihye has created impactful work for top brands including Ford, Jordan, Bud Light, Toyota, HBO, Equinox, and McDonald's. Most recently, she directed a campaign for Instagram featuring photographer and digital artist Natalia Seth, out of agency DEPT.
“Jihye is everything we hope for in a director,” says Han West, Partner and Executive Producer at Washington Square Films. “She has a breakout voice and visual sensibility that is potent, effective, and no doubt informed by her unique journey. And yet she’s approachable, compassionate, and relentlessly dedicated to her craft. We’re beyond excited to be working with her.”
Jihye’s path to filmmaking is distinctive and deeply personal. Born on a farm in South Korea, she moved to New York City at age seven. Fluent in both English and Korean, she credits her ability to connect across cultures to her adaptive upbringing. Early in her career, she worked as a production assistant while doing voice-over work, lending her voice to landmarks like the Empire State Building and Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum.
Her early producing experience includes work with Lady Gaga and Bud Light, where she honed her skills in high-level commercial and interactive production while directing her own self-funded projects. This blend of experience allows her to lead with both creative vision and logistical finesse.
Known for a human-centred, emotionally resonant style, Jihye excels at distilling complex creative ideas into compelling and approachable narratives. “I’m thrilled to make good stories with good people like Han and the team at Washington Square Films,” she shares. “With them, I’m confident we’ll level up the way we tell stories, both classic and new.”
Jihye joins Washington Square Films’ growing roster of directors, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to bold, emotionally driven storytelling.
