Returning to the Bike Shed Moto Co for the third year running, shots Out of the Box is back in Los Angeles on Wednesday 22nd April for a day of inspiring talks, rousing conversations and spicy panel discussions to get the creative community yapping.

Taking place the day before shots Awards The Americas, the event brings together top names from the industry's agencies, production companies and brands to decipher such topics as building an artistic voice, turning sports moments into universal narratives, making movies with commercial directors, and why it’s so easy to dupe the general population.

With seven weeks until the event, here are the first batch of sessions set to get your synapses firing:

Deconstructing the Matrix

Award-winning photographer and filmmaker Lauren Greenfield (Founder of Institute Pictures) unpacks how a singular artistic voice is built, refined and sustained across decades of cultural change.

From her early anthropological lens to globally recognised long-form work and campaigns, Greenfield traces the connective tissue that keeps creators honest, fearless and evolving, even as formats, platforms and audiences shift beneath them.

The Art of the Counterattack: Turning Cultural Moments into Creative Advantage

As LA gears up for the World Cup, GUT LA CCOs Ari Abramovici and Bruno Acanfora make the case for sport as a global storytelling engine, not just a sponsorship backdrop.

Drawing on real campaign thinking and three previous World Cups, they’ll look at how timing, craft and cultural fluency can turn fleeting moments into ideas with genuine emotional bite, plus what AI might do to speed up the “counterattack” without flattening the human insight.

Airheads

With deepfakes multiplying, staged social content thriving and political nonsense routinely passing as “truth”, Amy Kean (CEO and Creative Director, Good Shout) asks a blunt question: why is it so easy to dupe the general population?

This session digs into what drives belief, how fake content reshapes creativity, and whether we’re heading towards a future where the illusion is not just convincing, but preferable.

From spots to features: How commercial vision can evolve into cinematic scope

Caviar US EP and Managing Director Michael Sagol and Caviar Head of Film and TV Allison Hironaka are joined by directors Jody Hill and Keith Schofield to get into the real mechanics of moving from 30-second storytelling to long-form.

Expect straight talk on risk, timing and perception, plus what it takes for directors and production companies to make the leap, back the leap, and keep commercial careers ticking while features get over the line.

shots Out of the Box LA 2026 is sponsored by Division Films, Virtual Films and XR Pay, and takes place on Wednesday 22nd April at the Bike Shed Moto Co. in Downtown LA.
