Created with Rethink for Scotiabank and directed by Nick Ball, through OPC, the film What Do You Make, condenses the ups and downs and wins and losses of an ‘average’ person during a fairly regular life.
The early dating games; the caring for ‘1.4’ children; ill-judged decisions, from spicy curries to spicy underwear; inappropriate office jokes about cucumbers and the comfort of a perfect cheese toastie. The campaign reframes such ‘average’ life moments as meaningful, capturing small, intimate routines and gestures that quietly define a person’s journey.
Interestingly, for a finance brand it settles on the heartwarming message that one's riches should be assessed more in humanist terms than via numbers on a spreadsheet.
