Strengthening its roster of filmmakers, Stadium Creative Group has signed director Rodney Lucas

Known for his raw, street-level storytelling, Lucas blends documentary and commercial filmmaking to create culturally rich narratives.

Hailing from the South Side of Chicago and now based in Brooklyn, he has worked with brands including Nike, Adidas, Beats by Dre, US Bank, Amazon, Square, Verizon, Puma, Clarks Originals, and Toms Shoes. His projects focus on media as a cultural unifier, bringing human-centred stories to the screen.

Lucas’s latest documentary, Black Hercules, an intimate exploration of Black bodybuilding, was selected for the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival. He also directed Untold: The Murder of Air McNair, a Netflix documentary investigating the rise of NFL quarterback Steve McNair and the circumstances surrounding his 2009 death.

“Rodney is an undeniable force in modern storytelling,” said Samy Mosher, founder and director at Stadium Creative Group. “His ability to craft deeply human narratives—whether in documentary form or commercial campaigns—sets him apart. With Black Hercules making waves at Tribeca and his Netflix directorial debut, this is just the beginning of his impact. We couldn’t be more excited to have him on board.”

Lucas’s work has earned a Tribeca X Award, a Webby, 13 Telly Awards, three AdStar Awards, and recognition on the Cannes Lions shortlist. He is also the founder of Southside Films, a cinematic house dedicated to collaborative Black storytelling. He recently completed a multi-day production with the Obama Foundation, set for release in 2025.
