Revolver signs director Brad Lubin
With a comedic sensibility and a understanding of performance-driven storytelling, Lubin brings a his voice to Revolver’s growing roster of directors.
Director Brad Lubin was born in Washington, DC, or as they call it, “Hollywood for ugly people.” A city with the highest concentration of lawyers in the world wasn’t what one would call creative utopia, so Lubin moved to real Hollywood.
Lubin cut his teeth in feature films, working with David Zucker, Peter and Bobby Farrelly, and Craig Gillespie. He studied comedy from filmmakers who take it seriously, bringing that same sensibility to commercial directing through meticulous casting, committed performances, and irreverent situational comedy.
The British advertising industry, which trusts Americans with nothing, has entrusted Lubin with some of its most beloved brands, including Irn-Bru, Asda, and Walkers.
His work has earned four British Arrows nominations, two D&AD Next Director Award nominations, a Cannes Young Director Award nomination, a Kinsale Shark nomination, a Gold Drum Roses Award, and a Creative Circle Award. He has also been profiled by Adweek, while AdForum ranked one of his spots the second-best ad in the world. Along the way, five different executive creative directors have watched his cuts and said some version of, “You bastard, I’ve got no notes.”
Lubin has directed comedy across four continents, making audiences laugh in languages he doesn’t speak. His client roster spans North America and the UK, including Netflix, Disney, Burger King, Pepsi, Mars, Ford, McDonald’s, Asda, GoDaddy, Mentos, Pedigree, QuickBooks, and Little Caesars, among others.
With a sharp comedic sensibility and a deep understanding of performance-driven storytelling, Lubin brings a distinctive voice to Revolver’s growing roster of directors.
Lubin said: "I couldn’t be more thrilled to join Revolver. With a storied history, they've backed directors with a real point of view without losing their edge and they care about the work as much as they care about the people making it. Luc and Richard have an incredible eye and genuine love for the craft, and I’m excited to be a part of a storied company built on a foundation of pushing ideas further."
EP Luc Frappier adds: “ We were immediately drawn to Brad's work. His ability to work with actors is exceptional, with a mastery of comedic timing that’s rare to find. We are excited to bring his distinctive approach to comedy and performance to the Canadian market!
EP Richard Cureton adds: “When we first saw Brad’s work, we knew he had the comedic sensibility that resonates with the Canadian market. Having built a career in both the US and UK, he brings a unique perspective on humour that translates brilliantly here. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Revolver roster and look forward to making some laughs together.”
