Created by Revolt and directed by Bonnie MacRae through Spindle, this clever initiative from domestic abuse charity Refuge shows how a dream home can turn into a nightmare when you’re living with an abuser.
The film unfolds as a typical house tour where each luxurious room and high-tech feature unveils an insidious sign of coercive control, based on the lived experience of survivors who have been supported by Refuge.
Titled Home is Where the Hurt is, the campaign was launched in the run up to International Women’s Day (IWD) and draws attention to devastating findings by the UN that the most dangerous place for a woman is her own home.
