As the world’s oldest Catholic university, noted Belgian educational institution and research centre KU Leuven, might be imagined as being on the stuffy side.

However, as this ad – created by Darwin BBDO and sensitively directed by Wilson Verstreken through Red Dust – reveals, it’s a progressive temple of learning that is determined to lose its image of exclusivity and foster respect to all-comers.

With spoken word gaining increasing popularity within youth culture over the last five years, the film features a voiceover from British poet and World Slam Poetry Champion Harry Baker.

A roll call of diverse students is accompanied by killer lines such as “ If you grew up with kick-ups in Matongé Square or pulling your zip up against the cold sea air…" and "Whatever pronouns you choose, you’re still pronounced as you.”

Nice.
