Pelufo & Alba: A Few Of Our Favourite Things
Ogilvy Madrid senior creative team Antonio Pelufo and Alba López Peláez talk us through the notebooks, coffee cups and lucky balls that keep them creatively inspired.
Celebrating ten years as a creative team, Antonio Pelufo and Alba López Peláez (aka Pelufo & Alba) have been at the forefront of many of Ogilvy Madrid's most respected campaigns.
After meeting at advertising school, Pelufo, an islander from Mallorca, and Peláez, born and raised in the most landlocked city of Spain, started their careers at Leo Burnett Madrid before moving to their happy home at Ogilvy.
Here, they take us through the items that keep their inspiration flourishing, from libraries of notebooks to golfing memories that bring them luck.

The Watch
I bought it ten years ago when I started my professional career.
I chose it not only because it’s beautiful but also because it was designed by Rams, serving as a reminder that everything we create should have purpose and meaning.
For me, crafting is the final stage of that thought process.

The Notebook
Like most creatives, I use notebooks.
And here is the promo: I usually buy mine from Nuuna, a German brand that makes beautifully designed and high-quality notebooks.
I need a notebook that can resist almost everything, like a cup of coffee or huge marks that ink too much.
So I recommend it to everyone, not only for art directors, also for copywriters, planners, strategist, etc.
This one is a collab with Sagmeister and Walsh from their book, Beauty.

The Pen
This is a gift from my wife from a few years ago.
Everyone loves it.
People who pass by my desk often mention it.
I’m very proud of it.
The problem is the pressure not to lose it.
It writes well, but I don’t.
I should write more.

The Notebooks
I’m a copywriter, so I always have a Word document open to write scripts or headlines.
But when it comes to ideas, I need to write them down on paper.
Otherwise, it’s as if they don’t exist.
It’s almost a fixation.
I know times are changing, but I don’t think I’ll ever stop carrying my notebook when I need to think through a campaign.
In fact, I still keep all the notebooks I’ve used over the years.
They’re almost like photo albums: memories of the past that you rarely look at, but are unimaginable to throw away.

The Mug
Coffee is always a must.
But this Waystar Royco mug also reminds me of how great writing is everything.
I can only dream of one day writing a script as brilliantly crafted as one of those 15-word zingers from the wannabe heirs of the Succession media empire.
Utterly terrible characters, but flawlessly executed.

The Lucky Ball
Pelufo was on a rough streak in his golf game.
This shot would define his final ranking.
He set up the ball and saw it: Albatross (a nickname he sometimes calls me).
He thought of me and said, “This shot is for her.”
It was incredible. His friends were stunned. He hadn’t made a shot like that all weekend.
That ball brought him luck, and he passed it on to me.
We love storytelling, and I’m one of those people who needs something in their hands to avoid getting nervous.
Even if it doesn’t actually bring luck, at the very least, it brings me peace.
