In a world of confusion, the simple pleasure of watching dudes engaged in dextrous tapping is a pure, unadulterated joy.
The video Drum & Docks sees talented percussionists extract increasingly complex rhythms from architectural and marine structures around the docks – ship sterns, stairwells, railings, paving slabs, all give up their beats.
There’s even a fella gleefully tickling up some hedges to create a spot of evergreen rustling.
On 3 December Addictive TV is hosting a Zoom Q&A session during which the artists Graham Daniels and Michael Neo will explain how they created the piece, from recording vibrations with contact microphones to composing with samples. They will give a short demonstration on how to use the recorded samples to create remixes. Register here to get involved.
