We're all about peace, love and understanding here in shots Towers, but we can't help but crack a wry smirk at KFC's endorsement of a tyrannical despot for its latest campaign.

Turning its back on the titular heroes of upcoming Marvel movie event Avengers: Doomsday, the chain has instead aligned itself with the armour-clad great destroyer Victor von Doom for a bespoke menu and devastation-filled spot.

Created by Mother and directed by Business Club's Tom Noakes, the ad sees Doom surveying the devastated remains of a city (plenty of apocalyptic detail for Marvel's true believers to no-doubt pore over), with every fast-food outlet reduced to rubble except one miraculously unscathed KFC.

With a wider activation that includes a 'Doomified' menu, limited-edition packaging featuring Doom's iconic mask and collectible Colonel Sanders figurines dressed as Marvel characters [below], this is one brand spokesperson you wouldn't dare call 'chicken'.

“We’re leaning into its biggest, baddest character, and delivering a menu worthy of the moment,” says Christophe Poirier, chief concept officer at KFC. “This isn’t just about chicken – it’s about putting KFC at the heart of a global cultural phenomenon in the most epic way we could.”

“The MCU and KFC have both built universes with their own mythology and devoted fans,” say Tomas Coleman and Derek Man Lui, executive creative directors at Mother. “Bringing those worlds together was an exciting opportunity. And staying true to Doctor Doom's character, we knew he wasn't going to leave KFC standing without getting something in return.”
