Hellmann’s new campaign continues the Unilever brand's drive to promote sustainability with the story of gifted pet who becomes a poster cat for avoiding food waste.
Created by VML/New York, and directed by Speck & Gordon through Furlined, the spot Mayo Cat sees Kate McKinnon (Ghostbusters, Saturday Night Live) wondering what to do with a bunch of leftovers. When her mayo-loving moggie miaows her ideas, the cat is catapulted into stardom.
The fun ad takes a gentle swipe at former SNL alumni Pete Davidson when, following the rapid breakdown of a romance between Davidson and Mayo Cat, McKinnon is moved to comfort her furry friend with the observation, "you lasted longer than most.”
