Joy Crooke’s domestic bliss

Directed by Park Pictures' Jake Erland, this soulful and intimate music video for British artist Joy Crookes’ track Mathematics, featuring Kano, portrays the highs and lows of everyday life for a young couple.  

Set against a sequence of match cut domestic backdrops, the film captures life-changing events juxtaposed with seemingly mundane moments, to show how the couple’s life - played by Crookes and Kano- slowly transforms over time.  

By using the same sets and locked-off shots to show small moments contrasted next to huge, transformative ones – childhood birthday parties on the same dining table that will later host a wake for a lost loved one – we are reminded, sometimes beautifully and sometimes tragically, of the universality of our human, domestic experiences.
