If you're a parent then you will doubtless feel a pang of recognition while watching Google's new spot for it's Pixel 9 phone.

Created by Google Creative Lab New York and directed through SMUGGLER by Henry-Alex Rubin, the 60-second spot opens with a man practising for an upcoming job interview, asking the Gemini AI application for help.

We hear him recite a speech about his capacity to work long hours with a small team, his ability to negotiate and collaborate and, while he admits to not always having the answer, he says he always get the job done.

All of this is heard as images of him looking after his daughter are shown, with the skills he lists put into action as she grows older, culminating with the father saying goodbye as she heads off to college before we see him start the interview with a new prospective employer.
