If Gentle Monster’s aim was to create a film that feels more like a sensual, psychedelic fever dream than a conventional eyewear advert, casting FKA twigs was a savvy move.
Co-directed by Jordan Hemingway through Object & Animal in collaboration with – and starring – the British multidisciplinary artist, the film opens with twigs in a vibrant, tropical greenhouse, where she's bitten by an alien-like plant.
The encounter propels her into an energetic, interpretive dance sequence realised through a heady blend of live action and animation, where she pole-dances around the stem of a blooming flower amid kaleidoscopic visuals set to the immersive, dreamy score of her own unreleased track.
