Directed by Caio Vieira, through Ways & Means, Carly Rae Jepsen's latest music video captures all the yearning involved in a new relationship teetering between friendship and romance, while also exploring another dichotomy: the tug-of-war between motherhood and career.
Shot while the singer was in her sixth month of pregnancy, the film sees her grab a microphone and, with its long cord trailing behind her, ventures out from a club and into the world.
Director Caio Vieira commented: “The minute I heard On Wires, I knew I wanted to build something deeply connected to the music. What started as a song about desire – about wanting someone – slowly transformed into something much bigger. It became about wanting to hold on to what truly matters.”
On Wires is the lead single from Jepsen's new album, Day and Night. Set for release on September 18 via Interscope Records.
