Berlin-based director Ivan Boljat reunites with artist Blazey for their second collaboration, Beauty in Da Beast, a horror-inspired music video exploring masculinity, vulnerability and transformation.

What began as a simple idea for a one-take choreography evolved into a much more ambitious film. Captured by Montell Taraschewski as director of photography, the story unfolds in a retro boxing gym, an environment deeply rooted in traditional ideals of male strength and dominance. But when an outsider enters this tightly controlled world, its established codes begin to unravel. Through stylised choreography and physical performance, Blazey challenges the image of the alpha male, exposing the vulnerability that lies beneath the surface.

Produced by Leonie Harff, with Martin Richteras Executive Producer for SOUP, the project is also a testament to what can be achieved when a team shares a strong creative vision. Created with extremely limited resources, Beauty in Da Beast came together through ingenuity, collaboration and a collective determination to bring the idea to life.

“I really wanted to return to the music video format because it gives me the freedom to express my thoughts about the world we live in. Blazey and I connect creatively on a level that makes it easy to push ideas further. What started as a simple concept kept growing into something much bigger, despite having virtually no budget. A huge thank you to the entire team for pushing through and being part of our vision.” said Boljat.
