Experimental design studio FutureDeluxe has collaborated with Björk’s long-term creative partners, M/M and director Vidar Logi, to create this dynamic music video for her new track, Fossora.
The opening mushroom sequence spells out the title, with each letter part of a typeface developed by M/M specifically for this world. Each mushroom-letter has been reimagined by FutureDeluxe in refined detail, recreated to host multiple digital-fungal organisms.
The film brutally collages footage of the artist as she sings amidst a circle of woodwind-playing fairyfolk, with animations of an intricate network of audio-reactive, rhythmically-writhing mycelium that pulsates in time with the song, resulting in an organic and freakish feast for the eyes that is brilliantly bizarre and feels very Björk.
