Taking the cheeky falsetto croonings of Mick Jagger as its narrative crux, Chris Barrett and Luke Taylor's new music video for The Rolling Stones’ Jealous Lover could be construed as a simple dance film.
However, that would be doing a massive disservice to the Academy duo’s eye for storytelling which, alongside a pair of magnetic performances from Anya Taylor-Joy and Charles Melton and some raw choreography from Wynn Holmes, tells a tumultuous tale of desire in its short duration.
Shot in LA, with a dusty motel as its backdrop, the promo turns every glance, gesture and tightly controlled movement into another beat in a volatile relationship.
“Working with a band as foundational and iconic as The Rolling Stones is an absolute dream for any filmmaker,” say Barrett and Taylor. “Our goal was to create a visual world that felt as timeless and effortlessly cool as the track itself. Anya and Charles fully committed to the vision, bringing a magnetic tension to the screen that elevates the entire narrative. We couldn't be prouder of the result.
