Aspiring rappers gather before French hip-hop legends in this industrial, slightly surreal, trailer for season five of Netflix’s hit rap competition Nouvelle École, which is streaming as Rhythm & Flow France in the UK and US.
The recently released trailer was directed by LateMilk through Dissidence, with VFX from Nicholas Cravedi.
The almost two-minute film plunges viewers into the action, using striking visual effects to communicate the raw intensity of the competition ahead. New season judges Theodora, and Oli are introduced through the dramatic transformation of a rapper's most important weapon – the microphone. It culminates with veteran judge SDM, standing on top of an 18-wheeler truck containing this season’s contestants, delivering them to the ultimate stage.
