straight 8, the Super 8 film competition which challenges the industry to produce a film on one Super 8 cartridge, is holding its London screening on July 19.

The event will take place at Picturehouse Central, on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Great Windmill Street and doors open at 9.30 for a 10am start. The screening costs £10 to attend, will last about 90 minutes and all profits will go to the Fireflies Tour charity, Bloodwise

Presented by the APA in association with Cinelab London, with elevenfiftyfive and ourscreen on board as partners and with design by Rothco [whose entry from last year can be viewed above], the straight 8 2017 London screening will showcase the work entered by companies this year.

The films were premiered at last month's Cannes Lions festival, with entries from companies including adam&eveDDB, Droga5, Glassworks, Iconoclast, iris, Rushes and 72andSunny.

“The second year of the straight 8 Industry Shootout was a blast," says Ed Sayers, director and founder of straight 8. "If you missed it, or if you didn’t, be sure to join us and the filmmakers and soak up the raw creativity before you start your day.”
