The award-winning pair known for celebrity-driven, comedic campaigns join Tool’s growing commercial roster.
Creative production studio Tool has announced the addition of directing duo Bonnie Dennison & Alison Barton to its growing roster of award-winning directors.
Based in Los Angeles, the pair has built a growing reputation for their buzzy, celebrity-driven comedy work for brands including Liquid Death and Cottonelle, as well as an expanding footprint in television and film.
Bonnie & Alison have a unique ability to craft comedic commercial content that balances quirky humour, with a cinematic edge. Their work often pairs unexpected visual choices with irreverent humour, creating an inventive form of storytelling designed to “stop the scroll.” Over the years, they have directed campaigns for Wendy’s, MilkPEP, Cottonelle, Subway, Spotify and Liquid Death, collaborating with performers such as Mindy Kaling, John Cena, Tom Segura, Terry Crews, Ken Jeong, Kenan Thompson and Martha Stewart.
Beyond advertising, Bonnie & Alison continue to expand their presence in the world of television and film. They are writers on the upcoming Amazon series Ride Or Die starring Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer. The duo penned an animated series, Granted, which is currently in development at Warner Bros. Animation, with Elizabeth Banks’ Brownstone Productions attached. And currently they are adapting a beloved book series into a feature film for Disney.
Passionate about performance and collaboration, Bonnie & Alison are known for fostering confidence on set and creating an environment where actors and crew can do their best work. They are also committed to supporting and mentoring other women in the industry.
“Bonnie & Alison are an exciting addition to our roster,” said Michelle Towse, Managing Director at Tool. “Their work is intelligent, highly amusing, and possesses a distinctive, sharp sensibility. One set and off, they are full of heart, and have a real gift for bringing out the best in those around them. We’re thrilled to support their creative vision and can’t wait to see the bold, playful stories they’ll continue to bring to life.”
“Tool is a legacy in this industry, and we’ve always been huge fans of their work, so naturally we are thrilled to join their team,” said Dennison and Barton. “As we’ve gotten to know Michelle Towse and the team at Tool, we’ve been so impressed by the extent to which they’re committed to innovating and pushing boundaries. With Tool’s support, we know we’ll pioneer some exciting new frontiers for the people and brands we partner with…and have a whole lot of fun doing it!”
