In Specsavers latest ad directed by Mr Yankey the minutiae of daily life is speculated through an empathetic lens.

A barber squints his way through a haircut, a man struggles to make out an image on his phone before missing the bus. Mere accident? Maybe it’s time for an eye test, Head to Specsavers.

Mr Yankey is known for his visually striking and offbeat storytelling which immediately caught global attention with his first work shooting promos. Success quickly followed in commercials when his George Asda back-to-school ad became a viral success which not only made a significant cultural impact but also earned him multiple award nominations and a British Arrow. Mr. Yankey's ability to infuse authenticity and bring a new level of upbeat relatability to every campaign has rightly earned him the recognition as one to watch.

Mr Yankey said: “It’s been a real pleasure to collaborate with the Specsavers team, their campaigns always stick with people (or me at least), and this script brought such a subtle, relatable humour; it was exciting to bring to life. Casting, without a doubt, was one of the highlights.

Right from the off, I knew we were in for something special as soon as began auditions. Ro Kumar, George Eggay, Sandy Foster, and Adam Loxley nailed their characters. They gave us such a solid base to work from, and by the time we hit the set, we had the freedom to really play around and find those little comedic, unplanned moments that make a piece come alive.

Having worked on quite a lot of energetic, bold spots, this project was a refreshing change of pace. It was fun to dial things down a bit and focus on a more understated, lighthearted tone. Definitely something I’m keen to explore more”
