Non-governmental organisation The Carter Center has launched this touching short film, written and directed by Nate Townsend through Townsend Hurst and titled Common Ground, marking the International Day of Democracy and National Voter Registration Day.
Gorgeously shot on Super 16mm film in and around Folkston, Georgia, the 90-second short film promotes civility and democratic participation ahead of the midterm elections.
Starring actors James Healy Jr. and Tony J. Scott, it follows two lifelong friends whose affection for each other endures despite discovering they stand on opposite sides of a ballot amendment, offering a simple proposition for a divided political moment: “We don’t have to agree to get along.”
