In partnership with Mercury Records/Republic Records, American music artist Stephen Sanchez’ has partnered with Untold Studios’ director Charlie Rees to craft this stylish and suspenseful promo for his song Death of the Troubadour.
Set in a 1950s mobster bar, the video transports viewers into a Western-inspired story that mirrors the song's themes of drama and suspense, creating a cinematic experience similar to iconic film soundtracks such as Kill Bill.
"I've incorporated quite a lot of dance choreography into my work in the past, but this was the first time that I have ever directed a fight scene,” says Rees. “Iskey, our fight coordinator (who’s worked with everyone from Jason Statham to Johnny Depp), was amazing and really collaborative throughout. We were under a lot of pressure, but we made it happen! I love creating theatrical set pieces and want to do it more throughout my work."
