Stacked and Jacked: The Danny DeVito Story
Jersey Mike’s kicks off football season with Danny DeVito and Eli Manning.
Jersey Mike’s is introducing a new platform for its second year of partnership with the NFL, called Game Day Mike’s Way.
Created with Highdive as an extension of last year’s Eli vs. Danny platform that introduced Danny DeVito and Eli Manning's on-brand rivalry, this year’s platform launches with a biopic-style short film Stacked and Jacked: The Danny DeVito Story.
In the film, DeVito develops a strong arm from years of hoisting Jersey Mike’s subs loaded with an abundance of meat, cheese and toppings, allowing him to ultimately become the best quarterback the NFL has ever seen while Eli watches from the sidelines. When asked, “How do you keep that golden arm in shape?” DeVito responds, “It’s easy. Lift heavy sub, eat heavy sub.”

Since Jersey Mike's subs are loaded with so much meat, cheese and toppings, we wanted to take it to the extreme by showing what happens to our #1 fan, Danny DeVito. Stacked and Jacked tells the story of the natural conclusion of lifting so many heavy subs: you develop a jacked arm and become a pro QB in the NFL. In this alternate reality, DeVito rockets to football stardom, much to the disbelief of his Jersey Mike's rival and former Giants QB, Eli Manning.
This new platform marks the second time DeVito and Manning have starred in a campaign together. Last year, Manning became a new spokesperson for the brand's NFL sponsorship, and DeVito took it as Manning trying to take his job. So, after Manning stole DeVito's job in Year one, this year DeVito's the one taking the field, and Manning's watching from the sidelines.
The most integrated Jersey Mike's campaign to date. This year, Highdive created a whole world for DeVito's QB story to live in. The campaign spans TV, OLV, social, display, influencer, brand acts and limited edition products.
Director Eric Appel is known for creating faux trailers for biopic-style movies, including the viral Weird Al and Field of Dreams 2. This approach is right in his sweet spot: a film that plays out like a classic sports movie, where the underdog becomes a star.
