Sound Lounge has announced that acclaimed mixers Steve ‘Major’ Giammaria and Justin Kooy will step into new leadership roles as partners, as the company enters its 26th year as one of New York City’s longest-standing independent audio post-production houses.

In anticipation of this transition, veterans and founders Marshall Grupp, Peter Holcomb, and Tom Jucarone are preparing to take on new roles in the Spring of 2025.

“Sound Lounge has always been more than just a studio; it’s a place where creativity thrives, and clients become part of the family. We’re incredibly proud to continue that tradition, while also bringing fresh ideas and energy into the mix,” shares Giammaria, a four-time Emmy Award winner for his work on The Bear. “Tom, Peter, and Marshall have always believed in cultivating internal talent, and Justin and I are a result of that tradition. We look forward to building on what they’ve created and pushing the company to new heights.” Giammaria, who’s been with Sound Lounge since 2006, will lead the Film and Television Division while embracing broader leadership responsibilities as partner.

Justin Kooy, who has been with Sound Lounge since 2005, has built a stellar reputation as a commercial mixer. In his new role as partner, Kooy will lead the Commercial Division, continuing to drive the company’s success in the advertising space. “It’s an exciting time for Sound Lounge,” Kooy said.

“We are committed to offering the same exceptional service and quality that has defined us. Our goal is to intrigue and inspire, ensuring every project we work on elevates our clients' visions and exceeds expectations.”

Reflecting on the new generation of leadership, Grupp, Jucarone, and Holcomb welcomed the new partners with a joint statement: “We’ve built Sound Lounge on passion, collaboration, and excellence, and we couldn’t be more excited to have Major and Justin join the leadership team. They bring talent, enthusiasm and artistry into everything we do, while maintaining the integrity of the company.”

Looking ahead, Sound Lounge is also upgrading its facilities to better serve clients. The company has broken ground on a state-of-the-art ATMOS commercial studio and a new, larger ADR studio, both set to be completed by early spring. These spaces are designed to enhance the company’s capabilities, providing an even better environment for its clients.

“These new spaces are part of our vision to stay at the forefront of audio post-production,” said Giammaria. “They will allow us to continue pushing the boundaries of creativity and technical excellence, while delivering the premium, boutique experience our clients have come to expect.”

With new leadership in place and exciting developments on the horizon, Sound Lounge remains committed to being an audio post leader–intriguing and inspiring, delivering unmatched technical mastery while keeping clients at the heart of everything they do.
