Exasperation at idiocy is often the bedrock of great comedy, but it’s even more entertaining when the idiot in question is the technology that’s supposed to rule the world.

Experimenting with a tool set to upend the industry - the advent of the AI actor - Gifted Youth director Sergio Cilli has created a genuinely funny series of viral shorts that suggest we might not be quite there yet.

Made in collaboration with Caviar, the short Director Auditions AI Actor and its three follow-ups brilliantly balance a patient but increasingly infuriated Cilli with the often absurd, unintentionally manic output of generative AI.

Accompanied by the on-screen prompts that spawned the footage, the result is a hilarious yet horrifying glimpse into the limitations of the technology.
