Whilst primarily seen as an older-person's hobby, since lockdown many a Gen-Zer has found solace in a spot of gardening.

Aiming its sights at this more youthful end of the green-fingered spectrum, iconic Australian seaweed plant tonic Seasol has enlisted the knowledge of horticultural elders, along with the filmmaking talents of Good Oil's Connor Pritchard, to create Dirty Old Secrets; a deliciously wry web series that teaches new dogs old tricks.

Created by agency Howatson+Company, the ten-part series manages to maintain the difficult balance between informative and entertaining, creating a vibrant and undeniably snackable group of films that are as hilarious as they are helpful.

“We’re seeing a surge in younger Australians discovering the joy of gardening, but many are lacking the knowledge and gardening experience to help their plants truly thrive,” says Greg Matheson, Seasol Head of Marketing.

“Meanwhile, older generations have decades of proven expertise, often with Seasol at the heart of their success. With Dirty Old Secrets, we’re ensuring that invaluable wisdom is preserved and passed on, while cementing Seasol’s role as a trusted partner for every gardener.”

“When your most loyal consumers are ageing, you have two options: fade away with them or create new relevance,” adds Gavin Chimes, Chief Creative Officer at Howatson+Company. “Dirty Old Secrets takes what quietly happens in the best backyards in the country and makes it loud, bold and impossible to miss.”
