Crash test footage might well have smash, bang and, indeed, wallop, but it's not often considered artful.
However, for his series of films for Volvo Cars, PINE director Philippe Tempelman has taken the company's commitment to safety and transformed it into a visually arresting spectacle.
Created as part of The Volvo Cars Safety Standard, a wider campaign developed by AKQA to communicate the manufacturer's longstanding dedication to safety, the latest film brings together moments from the five-part series in a striking montage that serves as a cinematic conclusion to its first chapter.
Utilising miniatures, VFX, lighting tricks and even elephants, this smart visualisation of the brand's values is anything but a car crash.
