London-based production company Park Village has announced their continued expansion from advertising into longform film, episodic and branded entertainment with the launch of Park Village Originals.

Led by Partnerships & Development Executive Ollie Allgrove and Park Village’s Managing Partner Adam Booth, Park Village Originals will focus on the development and production of original IP for broadcast, cinema and streaming distribution, as well as harnessing longform storytelling capabilities to create branded entertainment.

Allgrove comments, “We’re interested in positioning Park Village across what are largely two separate production economies, advertising and IP driven long-form entertainment, and then exploring opportunities where these economies intersect. This is about developing a holistic approach to production, founded on editorial values and baking development into the DNA of our production business.”

Adam Booth adds, “Brand funded entertainment is gaining momentum as a valuable alternative or complementary proposition to traditional ad campaigns, be that on TV or through online platforms. So through investment in Park Village Originals, alongside the growth of our commercial business and rosters, we’re working with broadcasters to provide the audience data, partnerships and ideation that brands and agencies need to enable them to think more about audiences than impressions”.

Following the successful release of Park Village’s Beneath the surface and X-Trillion with Warner Bros Discovery throughout 2024, the launch of Park Village Originals comes alongside several director signings to bolster the offering. Joining the Park Village roster are Emmy and New York Festivals award winner Megan G Wells, and the BAFTA & RTS award winning duo Nothing Lost. Wells is an unscripted director and showrunner, previously of RedBull Media House, Under Armour Originals & the NBA, while Nothing Lost are the creators and directors behind the Amazon hit series Jungle.

Park Village Originals is developing a slate of work spanning scripted and unscripted projects, including a 45” broadcast doc in development with Warner Bros Discovery, and an unscripted entertainment pilot helmed by Allgrove and Wells, in partnership with WaterBear Studios and the Ellen McArthur Foundation. The division continues to build a strong narrative around environmental issues and social impact with the continued development of Unexpected Wild, a multi episodic ‘music x nature’ series created by Wells and hosted by international recording artist Louis VI, set to move into pre-production early 2025 which further underpins the launch of the new arm of the business.

Park Village’s roster of talent has a successful history of directing longform projects, including that of Harry Bradbeer having directed cult series’ Fleabag and Killing Eve, before moving onto Netflix features Enola Holmes 1 & 2. Director Ian Derry has been at the helm of several broadcast documentary projects including Beneath the Surface and Hold your Breath for Netflix. James Morgan is known for directing Becoming You for Apple TV amongst others. With a BAFTA win already on the shelf from as far back as the 1980’s, Park Village has always collaborated beyond its own directing roster, so Originals is a natural progression that builds on that ethos and network on show in their collaborators initiative ‘The Village’.

Allgrove adds, “Through the growth of Park Village Originals, we’ll be connecting the dots between great directing talent, broadcasters, media agencies, creative agencies, brands, film-financiers and not-for-profit organisations with the goal of creating entertainment that has the power to strengthen brand positions through audience engagement.”
